Ownership Graph

A service page names the company that operates it. This records who owns that company, taken from the register that publishes it, and says where the public record runs out.

6Jurisdictions
Every entity below was fetched from its own register on , not looked up in a company-data reseller and assumed. This is a small graph on purpose: an ownership link is recorded only where a primary record states it, so the absence of a link means nothing was published, not that a company stands alone.

Evidence tiers

REGISTRY RECORD
Read directly from the official register's own record or API on the retrieval date. The register is the authority for this fact.
REGULATORY FILING
Read from a filing the entity was legally required to make to a regulator (SEC exhibits, annual reports). Authoritative for the filing date, not necessarily current.
REGISTRY DATA
Read from a service that republishes official registry data. Accurate in practice, but one step removed from the register.
COMPANY STATEMENT
Stated by the entity itself on its own governance or legal page. This is how most non-equity control arrangements become knowable at all, and it is not independently verifiable.
SHAREHOLDER
Holds equity in the child entity. The percentage is recorded where the register publishes it.
PRINCIPAL SHAREHOLDER
Named by the entity as its controlling or primary shareholder without a published percentage.
ABSORBED
The child entity was merged into the parent and struck from the register. The parent is the legal successor.
PREDECESSOR
An earlier, separate legal person that ran the service before the current operator. Not a rename: this entity was dissolved.

One company, several listings

The directory lists products. These are the cases where separate entries share a single legal operator, which is the thing a per-service listing cannot tell you: comparing them compares products of one company, not independent alternatives.

Fondation Proton owns Proton AG

COMPANY STATEMENT

As Proton's primary shareholder, the foundation exercises its control to ensure that Proton does not deviate from our mission. No change of control of Proton can occur without the consent of the Foundation.

What this does and does not showBoth entities are registry-confirmed, but the shareholding between them is not. Swiss law does not require a company to publish its shareholders, so this edge rests on Proton's own account of its governance and cannot be checked against Zefix.

What this does and does not showRecorded on both sides of the register: Proton AG lists ProtonVPN AG under companies taken over, and the ProtonVPN AG record names Proton AG as the entity that took it over. The VPN product has had no separate company since.

SatoshiLabs Group a.s. owns Trezor Company s.r.o.

The Czech commercial register lists SatoshiLabs Group a.s. (IČO 08685916) as holder of an 82.5% share in Trezor Company s.r.o., entered 2026-04-09 and not struck.

What this does and does not showThe remaining 17.5% is held by four named individuals at 5%, 5%, 5% and 2.5%. Czech law publishes the shareholders of a s.r.o., which is why this chain is visible at all; the equivalent Swiss and Swedish holdings are not public in the same way. The holding was 96.5% between 2023-11-24 and 2026-04-09.

Entities

Every legal person referenced above, with the identifier its own register issues. Where a company was renamed, the former name is listed against the same registration number, which is what proves it is one continuous entity rather than a successor.

Renamed by the same legal person, not a new company. The Swiss Official Gazette entry of 18.10.2021 reads 'Nouvelle raison sociale: Proton AG', with the statutes modified on 30.09.2021. The UID is unchanged either side of the rename, which is what proves it is one entity.
ProtonVPN AGabsorbed
Recorded on both sides of the register: Proton AG lists ProtonVPN AG under companies taken over, and the ProtonVPN AG record names Proton AG as the entity that took it over. The VPN product has had no separate company since.

A second, unrelated Proton AG exists in the Swiss register (CHE-363.321.658, seat Zürich, ehraid 1513956). It is a namesake with no connection to the mail and VPN business, and the UID is the only thing that separates them. Any lookup by name alone will return both.

5 of the entities here operate a listed service. Most privacy companies publish no ownership at all: Swiss and Swedish registers do not list shareholders, so a chain that stops is a limit of the public record rather than a finding about the company. Nothing on this page should be read as an audit.

Evidence basis: Cunicula records source-backed claims for comparison, not certification, audit, endorsement, or a recommendation engine; read the methodology and coverage map before relying on an entry.
