Correction: Monero Traded Above $687 in January 2026
This article previously said Monero never reached $687 and placed its January 2026 high near $430. Both claims were wrong.
Monero traded near $800 on 14 January 2026. Kraken recorded an intraday XMR/USD high of $799.89. KuCoin recorded an XMR/USDT high of $800. CoinGecko and CoinPaprika place the aggregate US dollar all-time high near $797 on the same date.
Why The Numbers Differ
Crypto assets trade on separate exchanges rather than one central market. An exchange reports trades from its own order book. An aggregator combines data from several markets. Trading pairs, liquidity, and calculation methods can produce small differences between recorded highs.
That explains the gap between an exchange high near $800 and an aggregate high near $797. It does not support the previous claim that Monero stayed near $430.
How To Check A Price Record
Check timestamped data from more than one exchange, then compare it with independent market aggregators. Record the trading pair and time zone. A price on XMR/USD can differ from XMR/USDT, and a daily candle can hide the exact time of an intraday high.
