Test a Faraday pouch with the device inside. NIST's mobile-forensics guide describes radio isolation as blocking cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth communication. It also warns that weak signal leakage can let a device reconnect. Seal the pouch, call the phone, send a message, and check Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from another device. Repeat the test after the pouch has been folded or carried for a while.

Apple warns that a MacBook camera cover can damage the display or interfere with the ambient-light sensor. Apple's limit for a required cover is 0.1 mm, about the thickness of printer paper.

It also says juice jacking has been shown as a proof of concept but that it knows of no confirmed cases. A charge-only cable removes USB data transfer. Your own charger or battery avoids the public port.

Treat hidden-camera detectors as screening tools. USENIX research found that threshold-based RF detectors can trigger on legitimate phones, televisions, and other wireless devices. RF scans also miss cameras that do not transmit. Lens-reflection searches can produce false positives from glossy objects and depend on viewing angle. A flashlight inspection is useful, but no clear result proves that a room is free of cameras.
